Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is cork leather?

Cork Leather is made from the bark of oak trees. The raw bark is then processed to form a ‘fabric’ which is used to make the bags and wallets. This makes cork leather plant based, as opposed to other types of ‘vegan’ leather which are made from plastic.

Essentially, cork leather is:
-
100% vegan
-
100% cruelty-free
-
Organic & chemical-free
-
Lightweight
-
Water-resistant
-
Hypoallergenic
-
Plastic-free
What’s not to like, right?! 😊

2. Where does the cork come from?

All our cork products come from Portugal, which has historically been a global leader in both the supply of premium quality cork as well as using age-old traditional techniques of harvesting and processing the fabric.
3. How is cork eco-friendly?

The oak trees are never felled to produce cork. Instead, the bark is stripped from the tree, allowing the tree to regenerate. There is a 9-year waiting period between each cycle and the trees are allowed the time to rejuvenate during this time. Pretty amazing right?!

Unlike PU leather, there is no plastic or chemicals used. Only eco-friendly dyes are used for the coloured fabric and all the fabric itself is derived from organic and natural materials. Therefore, we pride ourselves of the fact that all our products are PETA approved which is the gold standard in the industry for cruelty-free products.
4. What does the cork fabric feel like? I’ve never seen it before…

You are going to love it! Each bag has its own unique pattern ingrained in the fabric, so no bag is the same. Its soft to the touch (feels kind of like suede) and is extremely lightweight, so thankfully no more tired shoulders from carrying a heavy bag all day!
5. How do I look after my cork goodies?

Cork fabric is extremely resilient but like any prized possession, you will need to look after it. Its water-resistant so you don’t need to worry about getting caught up in the rain. In case of spillages, just wipe it with a damp cloth and keep it in shape and you’re good to go!
